History: Born the fourth child and third son of a noble dawn elf, he had a rather happy childhood with loving parents. Unfortunately, an accident with a lantern left him scarred for life and his mother a widow. Since then, his relationships with several of his siblings have deteriorated, namely his oldest brother who was forced to take over their father's title at a much younger age than expected. Due to the scarring, most of his society avoids him in disgust since they place such a high value on appearances. As soon as he was old enough, he moved to a small house in an out-of-the way part of the forest to live mostly in seclusion. He wishes for companionship but has little hope for finding a mate. This is why Annir chose him to attend the Ball.

Abilities/Skills: Horseback Riding, Cooking, Can Read People Easily, Gardening
Personality: Tal is kind, even to those that do not deserve it. When he is annoyed, his kindness can turn sickly sweet and take on a rather sarcastic edge. He is observant and usually quiet unless he's with people with whom he is comfortable, such as his youngest brother. He avoids most people due to the scarring.

Non-Bonding Companions for the Ball: Youngest brother Ettrian, who is 189 years old, 6'2" with auburn hair and light gray eyes. He is very protective of his older brother.

Story: Taleasin Keyxidor walked from one end of his home to the other and back again, pacing in growing agitation. Why had he ever agreed to this? It wasn't like him, and now it was too late to just change his mind.

"You do realize that you are literally wearing a rut into your floor," his younger brother, Ettrian, pointed out as he indicated the path that Taleasin had been pacing for the last half an hour.

The elf stopped for a moment to stare down at the dirt floor of his home and saw that, yes, he really was wearing a groove into his nice smooth floor. He sighed and made a mental note to fix the issue after he returned. "I don't know why I agreed to do this," he muttered as he ran a hand through his dark brown hair.

"A god chose you for the task," his brother reminded him. "Did you really want to say no?"

Taleasin shook his head. No, he certainly did not want to anger a god, particularly Annir, their leader. It was more than that, though. Despite his nerves, he didn't want to miss this chance. People from all walks of life, from all different realms and dimensions, would be attending this ball. Surely, he would, at least, be able to enjoy a night of friendly conversation without the disgust that tinted any form of communication with his own people.

"It's not like you'll be going alone," Ettrian reminded him with a grin even as he pulled at the neck of his formal tunic. "I would think that you would be excited. I mean, perhaps, you'll meet some beautiful interdimensional lady tonight," he suggested with a lifted eyebrown and a smirk. "Who knows? Perhaps, I will!"

"I'm not going to hold my breath," the elder returned as he began his pacing once again without thinking. "No matter what race any lady there might be, I'm not exactly a handsome fellow."

Ettrian shrugged. "Your face doesn't bother me, so there must be a lady or two out there that wouldn't be bothered either."

Taleasin simply shook his head again. He was used to being alone, but he wanted a companion. While a pet might have helped, he wished to be able to converse with someone. Despite the setting for this ball, however, he wasn't going to get his hopes up. He would go. He would participate, and he would come home.

"Don't do that," his brother chided from his nearby seat. "Don't dismiss this entire venture before it has even begun. Try to keep an open mind. Try to actually enjoy yourself. If you don't, I will make you."

Taleasin rolled his eyes. "I will try, but I make no promises."

The two fell into silence for a few moments before Ettrian asked, "How and when are we supposed to get there exactly?"

"I am not entirely sure. The high priest simply said that I would know when the time came," he replied as he picked up the invitation from where it rested on the table. "Perhaps I should go seek clearer instructions," he muttered as he moved to his front door. When he opened it, however, the surrounding woods of his home was not what he saw. Instead, a well-lit tunnel greeted his eyes.

"I'm guessing it's time," Ettrian stated after a moment of silence. He then stepped forward through the doorway and turned back to his brother. "Come along, Tal! Don't stand there gaping like a fish!"

Taleasin stepped through the portal and followed his brother down the tunnel where he could see many other people arriving. If nothing else, this was certainly going to be a memorable night.

Meeting Notes (Written by Shard): Ettrian was much better suited to this party than Taleasin, or at least that's what Tal thought. While he didn't exactly mope, he was still hesitant to enter the fray on that dance floor, it was just too intimi--

His hand was grasped, warm and strong fingers sure of their grip. Yanked sideways into the group on the wide ballroom floor, Taleasin had no choice, and wouldn't protest out of politeness... If this woman was 'polite' perhaps that might... Well she was confident, and slender, and beautiful. Red-brown eyes looked at him seriously, he was so stiff and hesitant while dancing. Also he was completely unfamiliar with the music, it definitely wasn't from his world. But she smiled, she was not staring at his scars, rather at his eyes. They danced for a time, two songs, and she finally released him into the room once more.

Baffled, suddenly exhausted, Tal saw why they'd stopped - it wasn't because she was done dancing, it was because they were making way for dragons to parade across the floor. And... of all things, one of them with bright checkerboard wings stumbled right up to his brother! Well that was certainly good for him!

Another little checkerboard dragon, one that had been seen constantly virtually everywhere around the tables and dance floor area, came to Tal and seemed to be offering a small sandwich plate. Well, that was welcome! Over the course of the next few hours, this same dragonet arrived - one time with bubbling champagne, another with a moist towelette and spicy meat strips, and finally, who just sat next to him quietly.

He'd chosen a table closer to one of the kitchen entrances, apparently, the only people looking this direction were those waiting for special dishes, and they didn't look for, or at, him. His brother continued to enjoy himself, going so far as to carry his new little dragon around to sniff noses with others. Amused, tired, and growing a little dejected, when the clock looked to be nearly an hour to midnight, the dragon beside his seat laid its head on his lap and gave a musical little sigh.

My sister wants to meet you, she has waited all evening but you did not go back out to see.

Tal froze in mid-bite, and looked down at the dragon. Surely he'd imagined it? No, no, those eyes looked at him almost with puppy-dog brows. He finished chewing, dabbed his lips, took a sip of water.

"Your... Sister?" He asked, and the dragon nodded, a little tiredy itself. "Where should I find her?"

By the window with the whales, the little one seemed encouraged, and stood once more. I will take you! Tal stood, carefully leaving his gift bag items by the sign that said he would return, on the table. Led by the grey and white dragon, Tal followed along the edge of the dance floor and closer to the orchestra pit, though oddly the music coming from that strange group was muted somehow. There was not an act on stage just now, so they were providing a reasonably sedate tune for a slower dance on the floor.

Ahead, though, there were tall arched windows looking out to the deep dark sea outside Rapture. The Stage had a backstage area, but... you couldn't see it from the window? How was that possible? Tal looked around and didn't find another dragon. Was this some trick?

It is not a trick, as I'm right here, another voice, more feminine and stronger in volume than the little one. There was a lot behind this voice. It seemed like it could turn very sharp, or sonorous, a lullaby or a cacopheny at will.

Taleasin realized that the figure nearby was the source of this mental voice. He'd assumed it was a guest, standing with their back to the dance floor and gazing out at the massive... 'whales' (he'd never seen such creatures and couldn't know that the one nearest was actually known as ruu-un'den-ket, a manta-like animal from Xen, while another called a whale had long tendrils and glowed with an eerie blue luminescence and was definitely not from Earth). He took a moment to appreciate that view, and walked delicately toward this dragon. They had a stripe of dark hair, he thought it was literally just a woman standing there. Though... She... definitely didn't have a dress on, those brightly white wings looked like a shiny garment as she held them in such a way. But she turned her head, long on that neck, with armor coming from her brows, definitely not human. Or elf, or virtually any other breed he'd heard of.

She didn't blink but she did suddenly move into a different shape, descending to a horizontal direction rather than vertical. I am Euhesme, this is Eqo; my sibling and I would like to help you. Your brother is concerned. We will accompany you to keep you safe and happy.

She didn't seem like she would be dissuaded by any of his typical arguments... He wondered, was this what Annir intended? Well, it must have been.

The littler dragon chirped happily, we will make a great team, and you're going to love it! The larger shapeshifting sister gave a draconic smile, in agreement.

Meeting Notes: (also see above) It had been a lot of work to make sure that his brother even showed up, let alone had fun here at this big party. The thought that he might have slunk away was obvious - he'd chosen a table over by one wall where the kitchens connected to the buffet area, so like him to want eyes near him but not on him. Maybe after tonight he'd realize that scars were common and people were made of more than skin?

The clock said it was four hours until the midnight bell, and a big batch of amazingly pretty dragons with more wings to go around than typical showed up through one of the archways. One was very dark, still brightly lit up the room with its checkerboard wings and silky fur.

"I am Brilmeba! Yours!" It cried, and snatched the sandwich that Ettrian was just about to munch on! With the size of the parents, he wasn't sure whether this would be a big dragon or a little one, because as he dutifully brought the dragon over to the meats and checkup area, he'd been told to expect the 'knockoffs' to remain quite small compared to their clutch mates. He wasn't sure why this would be true but it didn't matter, he had a little friend now and he was bound and determined to show them off!
