History: He was born as the second child of one of the chief groundsmen of the Summer King's palace. Unfortunately, he insulted the royal family greatly in his youth, embarassing his father horribly. After the incident, the only member of his family that he was on good terms with was his mother. For his sake, she sent him to live with her sister and husband who had no children of their own. He has lived the rest of his life in the Spring Court. Since he was young he has been able to understand animals on a certain level naturally and has cultivated this talent over the years. He now is one of a team of animal healers that serves the Spring Court. He met his wife a few years ago, and they just recently married. Viana chose him to attend the ball due to his ability to adapt to two different fairy courts.

Abilities/Skills: Seasonal Magic (summer), healing, understanding animals, particularly birds, adaptable, animal training
Personality: He loves animals and has been known to train some of the best messenger birds. He can be quick tempered, especially if an animal's safety is in question. After the disaster with his own family, he has always been reluctant to start his own, but his wife's sweet persistance finally won him over, which is why they wed. He is a hard worker and hates to be interrupted when he is in the middle of working.

Non-Bonding Companions for the Ball: Wife Saria, who is 150 years old, 5'8" with pale green eyes and light purple hair. She did not wish to separate from him so soon after they married.

Story: "Are you nervous," Saria asked him as they sat together in his aunt and uncle's home, waiting for the beginning of the ball.

"A little," Erlathan admitted with a small nod as he glanced at the invitation that the high priest had given him a week before. "I do not wish to disappoint or anger anyone."

"And you won't," his wife assured him as she snuggled closer to him while trying not to damage her appearance. "I think it will be exciting, quite the wedding trip!"

Erlathan chuckled slightly. "You did not enjoy visitng the waterfalls," he asked with a teasing half-smile.

"Oh, I did," she returned quickly before she caught the teasing glint of his eye and hit his leg, instead. "I just wished we could have had some more time to ourselves is all," she finally explained in a quiet voice.

"It couldn't be helped," he reminded her gently. He'd had to return to care for the animals at the palace.

"I know, which is why I think we should enjoy ourselves for tonight," she said with a bright smile.

Erlathan's reply was cut off as the invitation began to glow. A moment later, a portal had opened in the middle of his aunt and uncle's home. "Are you ready," he asked as he tried to swallow down his renewed nerves.

"Of course," she said as she stood eagerly before turning to him and pulling him to his feet. "Let's go, Than!"

He couldn't help but smile as they stepped through the strange portal into a well-lit tunnel of sorts. They followed the general flow of the crowd until they reached an area that seemed to have a large stage where a group was currently performing. "This music certainly is... different," he commented with a tilt of his head as he listened. He turned to Saria, only to find that she had moved away from him to one of the windows.

"Than, look at this," she called back to him in childlike excitement. "I think we're underwater!"

"I'm not so sure," Erlathan replied with a shake of his head. He'd caught a glimpse of what appeared to be stars out a different window earlier.

"What is that," she asked as something seemed to swim past their window.

Erlathan leaned closer to her and the window. "It appears to be some sort of large fish," he answered thoughtfully as he continued to observe the creature. It was certainly something he hadn't seen before, and that thought alone was enough for him to put his nerves aside and enjoy the night for what it was.

Meeting Notes (Written by Shard): Keeping up with his wife was actually more of a challenge than he expected. There was a joy to her gaze that he hadn't seen in so long on anyone around him. Anyone but her. They learned names of some of those amazing sea creatures visible through one of the big windows, they discovered treats of rice and fish and fruits, cherry wines and tarts. Everything was quite busy here; there was always something visible on the stage, even if it was just one single woman singing a heart-felt song, or a full - noisy - 'rock band'. Dancing on the wide, white marble floor was something to see!

They even went into the casino, but were wise enough to avoid dropping too many coins on card games neither of them knew much about. They'd eaten a big meal and enjoyed the sparkling wines with complete strangers. Some of them may have been from their own world, but it was quite certain that most were not!

Erlathan stared hard at his plate, wishing fervently that there was something more substantial on it. Something meaty. He furrowed his brows, that wasn't like him, really, and besides he'd eaten more than his fill!

"It is for me," a quiet voice, one with a touch of an edge to it, spoke. "I would like something? I know they have a big trough over there but I'd prefer it be you helping me to it." He noticed his wife was slightly stiff, trying not to turn her head and stare. But her eyes sought his, and he saw her cheeks begin to bunch into a smile.

Erlathan leaned back a bit, and off to his other side was a not-really-small dragonet. They'd hatched at this event, or perhaps ... somewhere else and were brought here by the same big magical portals that sent them from their own home. But information he'd been given said that most of these would be quite young, and need a bit of care before they were grown. What he did with his life was care for creatures, but he'd never met a dragon let alone cared for one. What if he screwed it up? What if -

You will not, the dragon reached out with her mind, now he knew this dragon was female by her mind. Well that was something. But could we get that meat? And you can tell me about this disaster your family had - I bet they will be falling over themselves trying to get closer once they know of me.
